As a trustee of Minto Apartment REIT serving as both a member of the Audit Committee and the Compensation, Governance and Nominating Committee, Allan brings a wealth of experience to the table from his notable career in finance. In 2014, he retired as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Investment Banking in Real Estate at CIBC World Markets, following 18 years of work that included debt and equity capital markets origination and execution, as well as mergers and acquisitions advisory services. Before joining CIBC in 1996, he worked with the Marcil Trust / DS Marcil / RBC Capital Markets team for 12 years, focusing on debt capital markets origination and execution, and ran the Canadian commercial lending group at Aetna Canada for five years prior.
Allan is a director of Orlando Corporation (Audit Committee) and of Carfin Inc. (Audit Committee). He also serves on the board of The Royal Conservatory of Music (Scholarship Committee and Finance, Risk and Audit Committee). Previously, he served on the boards of First Capital Realty (Audit Committee and Governance Committee), Partners REIT (Audit Committee and Governance Committee), the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (including a term as Board Chair) and the Ontario Science Centre.
Allan received his Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University and his MBA from the University of Toronto.
